Guidelines for Free Woman Behaviour
1. Free Women (in general and as a rule in most rooms) would not go about with bare arms
" On the other hand, as you
know, there are statutes prescribing certain standards of decorum for free women. For
example, they may not appear naked in the streets, as may slaves. Indeed, a free woman who
appears in public in violation of these standards of decorum, for example, with her
arms or legs too much bared, may be made a slave."
-Renegades of Gor, page 367
2. Free Women dress according to the customs of their home. However, to be safe one
should dress in the manner of the home one is visiting. A woman wearing the leathers of
the plains would be a bit out of place in the city of Ar, for example.
3. Free Women do not steal.
"You have been tried and convicted of the crime of
theft," said the judge, "for the second time."
The girl's eyes were terrified.
"It is now my duty, Lady Tina," said the judge, "to pass sentence on
She looked up at him.
"Do you understand?" he asked.
"Yes," she said, "my judge."
"Are you prepared now, Lady Tina of Lydius," said the judge, "to hear your
"Yes," she said, regarding him, "my judge."
"I herewith sentence you, Lady Tina of Lydius," said the judge, "to

4. Free women would not act like slaves or act in a sexual manner. What is considered
acting like slaves or acting in a sexual manner is, of course, subjective. But as all
women are subject to the "dominance and order or men"...all women should be
prepared to walk a thin line in this regard.
All women on Gor are subject to the dominance and order of
men. Free women may lose their status, if strict rules of dress and decorum are not
followed. Lacivious dress or behavior usually results in a sentence of slavery.

5. Free women may be bold and outspoken, but only to a point because "all women on
Gor are subject to the dominance and order or men".
"You were not struck for such and absurd reason,"
I said, "You are, after all a free woman, and free women are entitled to insult, and
attempt to demean and destroy men. It is one of their freedoms, unless men, of course,
should decide to take it from them. You were struck rather, because you were
attempting to manipulate me." She nodded, putting her head down."
Mercenaries of Gor pg 422
6. As noted in #5, Free women may be bold and outspoken, but....do not be troublesome or
"Thus when she has been irritable or otherwise
troublesome even a Free Companion may find herself at the foot of the couch looking
forward to a pleasant night on the stones, stripped, with neither mat nor blanket, chained
to a slave ring precisely as though she were a lowly slave girl.
It is the Gorean way of reminding her, should she need to be reminded, that she, too, is a
woman, and thus to be dominated, to be subject to men." -Priest Kings of Gor, page 67
7. Free women do NOT threaten or otherwise attempt to physically harm men.
"I suppose," I said, "I should be pleased
that you did not order me to strip completely and kneel before you."
"You are, of course," he said, "a free woman."
Yet it seems, I said, if only implicitly, you have threatened
"Suitable disciplines and punishments may be arranged for a free woman," he
said, "suitable to her status and dignity."
"I am sure of it," I said, ironically.

1. Free women do not wear earrings- it is a sign of slavery. Avoid avatars of women with
earrings on as they (the avatars) are considered a representation of yourself. Also avoid
avatars showing too much skin or cleavage.
2. Free women are expected to conduct themselves as ladies. Avoid the use of cuss words
and insinuations (whether sexual or confrontational).
